Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plants

Application

Plant is used for wastewater treatment fromsmall sources as family houses, cottages, week-end houses, and the like that cannot be connected to municipal sewerage system. It purifies Wastewater usually produced by households including bathrooms, washing machines, dishwashers, washrooms and others. Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plants (abbreviated as „DC“) are designed to serve up within the range for 2 to 25 PE (Population Equivalent).

Description of Design

Reactor of domestic Waste Water Treatment Plants is a cylindrical plastic shell integrated with conical sedimentation – separation tank USBF and aeration system including a blower. Final sedimentation tank divides the reactor in two sections: inflow (de-nitrification and nitrification port) and outflow (from sedimentation port). Wastewater flows in the activation zone through a debris trap catching mechanical debris. Then it is mixed with activated sludge.Microorganism, within the sludge, start acting on substances in wastewater thereby starting the treatment processes. In sedimentation tank water is separated from sludge and flows out through an effluent through and sludge is pumped back to the first section with an air-lift pump.

Conditions for embedding in terrain

When installing a domestic wastewater treatment plant few basic rules have to be followed. These are important for trouble-free treatment plant operation and to avoid any damage in operation due to a wrong installation.

  • Treatment plant can be installed in building lower basement or buried in terrain, e.g. on a garden. In installation the gravity inflow and outflow have to be kept. A plastic shell extension can applied with respect to the sewerage depth. Underground water level limits the burying of the unit under terrain, if the level is too high it can damaged the unit. In this case the manufacturer has to be consulted. The bottom is made of concrete to be smooth and without sharp projections. The unit is positioned on the base plate and footing is reinforced with a ring.
  • Then water is allow to flow in and fine, loose material (sand, soil) is filled around the unit.
  • Inflow and outflow are attached. Compressed air is connected to aeration system. A blower has to be installed in such a place where it is not exposed to weather. It can be positioned in a cellar and a hose is used for air supply and/or it can be positioned in a plastic shell extension. Lenght 12 – 15 m makes the maximum hose.
  • Safety precautions: the plant reactor has to be covered. The cover has to be detachable to allow to inspect the plant operation, from time to time, and maintenance. The cover could be fitted with a safety lock.
